I haven't seen this anywhere else. Anyone need evacuating? I am off work in an hour and have the next 4 days off work. Happy to help if someone is in an area that needs to prepare to get out.

We're safe here for the time being. Fire really blew up yesterday and this afternoon, but they did manage to get a 20% containment on this fire (Royal Gorge Fire). Lots of smoke and had lots of ash in the air last night. Thanks for the offer.

Thanks, Jeff. We're good here so far, evac area is still a few miles north of us. As long as the wind stays from the south it shouldn't come this way. If anyone should need help let me know, we will do what we can, have two pickups & willing to help.

I hooked up my trailer today and loaded up the scout and got stuff together in case I need to evacuate. Right now the closest evac line from the black forest fire is 7 miles south of me. Today the wind was gusting really hard from that direction, but fortunately for now the winds have shifted. As long as they aren't coming from the south I should be good.

I also have a minivan capable of hauling a lot of stuff if needed (plus a spare bedroom and bath if it should come to that)

Stay safe everyone.

We have an extra room that we should be able to make available as well. Also, the church near my parents has a large lot and is willing to let an RV park there, and even hook up to their power if needed. Keep us posted.

Thanks you guy's for offering help, it really means a lot for us folks surrounded by fire potential:thumb: Getting things prepped myself, travel trailer is already off the mountain. I could hardly see Squaw Pass or Mt. Evans last night:erm: thru the smoke!

Looks like Black Forest doubled in size since yesterday to 15,000 acres and 360 homes lost. Unsure which way it is moving or who may need to get out. I have my truck and 14' trailer. Call if needed. 72oh-tutu4-6397. -Jeff

I leave town for work today, so I am pretty much evacuating myself. I am 98% sure my house will be fine when I get back, but only about 90% sure that it will not be in an evacuation area when I get back. I am sure everything will be fine here, but it would really suck to come back and not be able to get back in to evacuate. Better safe than sorry I guess. I am taking most of my important stuff out with me today and locking it up at work. I have a few people that have offered to help out though that know where I live, so I am leaving a pile of things in my family room and hiding a key just in case! Thanks to all that have offered up help!

I evacuated on Tuesday, the fire is only about 4 miles from my house. I went to my parents house which got evacuated on Wednesday. I am now in monument staying with a friend. But I think everything will be ok.

Well, looks like I pulled my stuff out for no reason, as I suspected. Better safe than sorry though! If I hadn't pulled my stuff out it probably would have flared up worse today. I couldn't risk the important stuff burning up... like my scout and my guns! :D

For you folks in the threatened (or potentially threatened areas), plan in advance... don't forget to gather all of your important documents (passports, insurance info, birth certificates etc.) as well as all your photos, valuable jewelry and other small prized possesions that might be important to you. Put it all in the same box/tote or whatever so it's quick to grab. If you can live without it - don't worry about it.

When the house in Westminster blew up the other day and people in the neighborhood were having to evacuate, I got a call from my neighbor. She was worried about her 3 cats (and she was at her office in Denver). I told her that if I was told to leave, I would break into her house and take her cats with me before I left. Fortunately - Evacuation orders for me (or her) never came - so no "break-in" had to occur!

But it's nice to have your neighbor's contact info at all times in case you need to call on them for help.

Whenever you see a fire fighter, please approach them and say Thanks. That was a real monster and they were able to save many homes. They kept the fire from jumping Shoup Road west of Black Forest Road which saved homes and property toward the south.

They really do need our appreciation!

All is well. I got to go back in on Saturday. It was really nice sleeping in my bed again. Sadly though I had just gone grocery shopping and had stocked the freezer/fridge and lost all the food to a power outage. Could have been worse. I got to drive through a small portion of the burn area today on my way to work (thank god they opened hodgen back up I am sick of driving 40 miles out of my way) and it is so sad to see what burned. I have to many friends that lost everything they had.
