I want to change the gearing in my truck from 3.55 to 4.88 but I have no idea how to do it. Is any available to show me how to do it when that time comes. Thanks.

Talk to Josh Jones at S.F.F. Customs on Facebook. He does gears all the time. He did mine. He also does axle swaps for those Jeeps running that skinny Jeep axle and puts the Ford 8.8 in there.

If you're not on Facebook let me know and I could get you his contact info.

I also have a guy in the springs that will do them for a good price if you just want to do it that way but I have not done one in the physical world yet so though I could do it I would not want to on your truck incase I did something wrong :)

Yea that's my problem too I have never done them in real life and don't want to mess up. Shoot his name and number and I'll give him a call.

Yup, that is not a beginner project. You could also check with Warrlord, he's been a trade mechanic for 30 years or so. Serious Offroad has been known to set up gears for customers, but I don't want to put words in his mouth.

Yea I talked to him and he is REAL busy with working all the time and he don't have time.

He got banged up in a motorcycle mishap. He estimates he'll be able to wrench again in August.

Seriously though, see if Serious Offroad can set up your gears. Unlike that guy in Parker, if he screws up, he won't make excuses for his workmanship.

One example of his workmanship, from a guy who used to work with him: http://naxja.org/forum/showpost.php?p=245873066&postcount=20

There are other examples buried in threads throughout that forum. I have seen Josh drummed off a couple different boards (he was a moderator on one) for his methodology and his business ethic. I wouldn't trust that guy to tie my shoes...

Front Dana 30's, 44's and 60's are fairly simple. They're all shims and with some set-up bearings it's a fairly simple thing. Rear 44's, 60's and even GM 14 bff's are fairly simple as well as they use shims. Again, with set-up bearings it takes all the hard work out of it. Anything with a crush sleeve makes me a bit uncomfortable cause it's usually a one shot deal.

I don't have dog in this hunt and I am disappointed in that guy's behavior.

Are you doing installs? The OP has an 8.8 rear, and (most likely) a D-44, TTB front axle.

Yes, but I'm about 3-4 weeks out right now.

Yea I have the 8.8 and right now the Dana 44 TTB but if I can find one out of a late 70 ford I'll be doing a SAS to a coil Dana 44.
