I tried to return some items to Home Depot last night after nearly completing my deck replacement. I have also installed a swamp cooler, a new roof on our rental house, a shed, and have the laminate flooring for our kitchen ready to go. Next on the list is the new kitchen cabinets/appliances, followed by a sprinkler system for the new house and the rental. Needless to say, BUSY year with lots of trips and a TON of money.
Apparently, the new return policy can restrict you from returning items. I didn't have a receipt, but it was never a problem before. I returned some items 2 or 3 weeks ago, and that may have restricted me. They won't tell you why you can't return the items. I emailed HD and they said this is part of their new policy. Very, very vague and unethical since they don't disclose this new policy up front. All this over about $80 worth of random building materials.
Good thing there is a Lowes right across the street. They have never hassled me about a return, and will get my business going forward.
