Ive got a TJM compressor, just bought a pressure switch, and a VIAIR 2.5 gallon air tank. Im looking to install all of this sometime this weekend, but havent done anything like this before. Have any of you converted a portable compressor like that and hard mounted it? Any assistance is appreciated.

Search for OBA & Chris or Brody. IIRC one of us wrote up an install on my FJ62 with a list of parts and photos. I'd look myself but I have to run out right now. Mine converted the A/C compressor to OBA but the components are the same.

Yea I installed a new fan and wired into a toggle switch on the dash. Now I can decide when to turn the fan on :thumb:. I also flushed the system, new t stat, new hoses, new rad cap, and removed the AC condinsor to get more air flow. I am going to see what happens on my way up to the clean up run tomorrow.

Sweet! Hope it works out for you. With all that done, it should run nice and cool now!! We will have to plan another trip soon if your jeep does good. Im still wanting to go play on Moody Hill. We got rained out that day we met you. Ran to top of Ballard, and on way back down, it rained and hailed the entire time. Everyone was soaked. Then I had to air up 4 rigs with my TJM, so I was soaked from doing that, lol. Fun day!!!

That sounds great, I was really disappointed that I did not get to run Moody Hill. I will let you know how it works this weekend. Good luck with the install, let me know if you need anything (helping hand, tools, etc...) I have the clean up run tomorrow, but I believe Sunday is open.

I dont have it mounted yet, but here is what I have so far. Pressure switch installed, everything plumbed, works great!! Gotta run my wiring to the back and figure out where I want it mounted.

Nice!!!X2!!!
After you decide on the mounting, think about moving the pressure switch to the reservoir.

I thought about that, but with mounting it on the compressor made wiring it so much nicer and cleaner, plus if I ever need to separate the 2 for whatever reason, the compressor will still function perfect.

Being able to seperate the compressor is good thinkin'! :thumb:
Still, that is not how I would go about it. It is just as easy to put a harnes connector between the pressure switch and the pump motor, and have a utility cord with the same connector to run the pump out of the vehicle.
Nonetheless, I'll be watching for follow ups.

I should be posting more this coming weekend. Took a break from it til I figure out where to mount it all.

Good to hear man! Im probably about 3 weeks out from being able to run again unfortunately. This coming weekend, low cash flow, next weekend camping out at N. Michigan Reservoir, but that weekend after that, good to go!! I will definitely keep you posted though.
