So on my Windows 8 phone I am using the Geogps app when trail running because it has usgs topo maps and its the only app that does have them for windows phones.
I figured I could import the file directly on to Natl Geo topo colorado. No such luck cause its too old.
Anyway found this website that convert them to google earch file which imo.is better for sharing anyway. Thought others might like to know.
