Odd question about car seats

So as you all know I own a 84 XJ, any other XJ owner have a good mod for their rig when it comes to hooking up one of the new car seats? The bench in the back is just blah, and the wife doesn't like it. So, just figured I ask if someone already had a solution.

is it a front facing car seat or rear ? Or the base part ?
I belive It wasn't till the late 90' that cars trucks and suv's had to be very car seat friendly.
And if you did not know Denver Fire dept will help you install your car seat for you for free all you need to do is set up an appt with select dept.

Just a fast search I found this site don't like like the fire dept.

Personally, on my 87 Toyota, the rear bench seat is blah as well. It has a lap belt only in the center where you pull the strap to tighten it. When I fit my daughters car seat in there, I can pull on the strap really hard to tighten the belt. I didn't even bother to figure out how to attach the tether strap in the back. The seat is so tight, it isn't moving anywhere. That is the most important thing in my opinion.

I will have to check that, not sure if the center strap tightens or not.

If its a new one it usally comes with its own strap with clips at the end. Also if you hvae jot tried it. But a knee or two with you full weight whike oulling the strap.

That is how I do it. Lean on it good and tighten the belt down, it isn't going anywhere.
