All this rain is making its way into everyone's basements. My neighbor's sump pump has not quit running since Monday. I just checked my sump (again) and it is bone dry. I mean it isn't even humid in there. The house has never had a sump pump in the sump, and it has always been dry. But I've been worried about this rain and my lack of pump.
So now my concern is... where is all the water going? I know the french drain and sump are specifically designed to make sure that water isn't seeping around the foundation. If my sump is dry, should I be concerned that the french drain around my house isn't keeping my foundation dry? My basement is in the process of being finished, so the walls are covered. That means I can't see if they are seeping any moisture. The floor, however, is completely dry.
