I need to find a better CB antenna spring. I want to find 3" or 4" light duty spring that is very flexible. I think Dave (WW2AVG) had one on his Jeep, but I didn't ask where he got it from. The problem I'm having is my current spring does not flex enough, so either the antenna breaks or the mount pivots, when tree branches grab it. I haven't seen any light duty springs avail on-line. If anyone knows for sure where I can find one, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Jim.

Closest thing I could find off hand is this. Not light duty, but getting closer;

Thanks Robert & Chris, I will check that one out. I am off this week, so I think I'll head over to one of the local CB shops to see if they carry it in stock.

Mine feels stiff by itself but the antenna will whip and forth with no problem.

I'm using this one, with a FS2-B 2 Foot antenna. Works great.

I had one I got from a truck stop. It seemed stiff but flexed easy with the whip on. And it sat on the roof so it hit trees a lot and never broke the whip.

That's the spring that I have. I have a 3' antenna on that and it bends easily, but keeps the antenna upright at speed.

OK, I need to see if anyone here can clue me in on these dang CB antenna springs. I was using a Heavy Duty spring and recently switched over to a Medium Duty spring. But, the Medium Duty spring seems to be way "too" flexible!! I just don't get it, the HD doesn't flex enough and the MD flexes too much! I am using a 3' Firestick antenna.

Ditch the firestick and get a thin wire antenna?

this wasn't meant to be a picture of the antenna, but you can see it pretty well....

It's a 3' antenna without a spring. Hits my garage door, tree branches, etc. never a problem and seems to work well.

Has anyone been able to overcome this issue?

I need to replace mine but they are readily available and on the shelf at any truck stop. I live in Aurora and there is the Flying J at Chambers and I-70 (south west corner) or you can also go to Sapp Bros. right off Quebec/Northfield on the North side of I-70

I'm with Eric on this Jim, ditch the Firestick for a thin, flexible whip type. I switched a long time ago and since reception is much improved I won't go back to snapping the rigid antennas.

Maybe 3' is in the middle of the optimal length for either a Medium or Heavy Duty. I have a 2' FSII and a Medium spring and it works great for me. I have a very unique mounting location, on the windshield A pillar though.

I think you're right. Seems like 3' antenna is the largest recommended for the medium duty spring. I think I will probably look for a different type of antenna.
