So a long long time ago.... I owned a '69 Ford Bronco

It was a good rig. 302 with 3 on the tree and the thing would climb a tree. At least that's how I remember it. Went to Moab a couple of times and played around in Lefthand Canyon.
Got tired of wrenching on it as my daily driver, so in 2000 I bought a Ford Ranger. It was a great little truck but I bought it new and was afraid to mod it because of the warranty and all. Then I didn't mod it because I didn't want to put money into a truck that was old. So the thing was basically bone stock for better than 12 years and 190k miles. It started missing on a cylinder and a leakdown test told me it was an exhaust valve. So I pulled the heads and, sure enough, all the exhaust valves were pretty sunk into their seats. Bought some reman heads and got scared so I bought a new truck too. When I finally got the heads installed and everything back together, it ran better than I remembered it running for a long time... I was sad to let it go, but I didn't want to register and insure two trucks so I sold it.
Here's a picture I used in the For Sale ad:

And here's a picture of the truck I replaced it with:

Having heard these Tacomas did pretty well off-road I decided that this time around, warranties be damned. I was going to make it into the truck I wanted from the get go (or at least as soon as funds would allow)
So I lifted it 3" and put 33" tires on it. Got some rock sliders and a CB... A tire snake jumped up in the highway and bit my front bumper so insurance helped me put a plate bumper and a winch up front.
It's actually getting pretty close to how I want it, but I'm sure there will always be something else to do to it. Future plans include a high clearance rear bumper.
I've managed to go on about 6 or 7 trail runs this summer with it and I hope to do many more next year (and maybe some snow bashing this winter).
Here's a picture of my truck as it sits now:

Hopefully, this site will connect me with a bunch more people and trails.
