View Full Version : Ratio - how many watch the nightly TV news
Jim

Let's keep this to just the nightly TV news shows (excluding radio & news paper).
Do you still watch it or have you, as a daily routine, stopped watching?
This poll is not public.

We generally watch it while doing other things. And along with that we usually only listen for stuff that generally pertains to each of our lives, and then take it all with a big grain of salt.

watching the news on tv just pisses me off. Not necessarily because of the news presented, but because of how it is presented. Tired of people who aren't educated in a particular subject matter injecting their own personal opinions and biases just because everyone in the city gets to listen to them. If they could figure out how to just present the news and the facts known, I would definitely watch it. Just sick of all the commentary and bigotry that goes along with it.

We watch the "news" segment, the first 10 minutes or so until sports starts.

Never. :)
Honestly, most of what I see on the TV news is old news compared to getting news online. They are also colored so, so negative as to not be valuable.
I hate the sensational headlines for tv news.

On most nights my wife and I watch local news while we eat dinner. Sometimes we'll watch the news at 9pm.

Only watch the news in the morning while getting ready for work, and that mostly just for weather and traffic information.

I don't have cable, I only get the local stuff, and only if it's not windy. I like the business-conjugal outfits the weather girls wear!! I watch about 10 minutes or so everyday just to see if there is anything actually important. It seems that every 10 minutes or so they rehash stuff, so that's about how long my ADD can take it.

I watch 9news about half of the time. I only watch because Kyle is pretty effing funny. He and Kathy Sabine are always taking jabs at each other and he is much wittier so it makes for a good show. The content is both lacking and biased not to mention depressing. I watch for the comedy.

Only watch local news for the weather, otherwise I watch news from around the world, France, Japan, Germany and so on that way I can see what's really going on without the censorship of corporate American news.

I agree. When I was able to get the BBC World News I found myself learning more of valued U.S. news than I did via U.S. tv sources (plus world news in general).

We watch the news when we go to bed, but for local stuff. The "reporting" of the national/world news isn't worth watching. I've got other sources (that also piss me off).

Read the paper and have a few internet news sites. But not a fan of the media in general as it's never really news on anything important.

Avoid TV! It is a one-eyed brain sucker.
I get news on the web from Reuters and the like.

I like to flip from one network to another to hear the opposing arguments and commentary. While much of it is "dribble", it makes you think. And thinking is good!
Think for yourself. The blogs and crap on the internet are equally bad, so don't kid yourself into thinking you're reading intelligent news... Watching a newscaster blather on about his or her own opinion (as long as they site sources for their fact-finding) is fine with me.
