Unfortunately... probably not.

Have you hugged your kid today? If not, do so immediately. And do it every chance you get.

Probably not. At least it wasn't as bad as it has been in the past.

Since these dipshits always take themselves out when they go crazy, why don't they start with themselves and then move on to the rest of us?

I'm waiting to hear what it is that the teacher did - the one he was gunning for. I think I heard one of the witnesses say the name was Murphey.

I'd focus on the kid's parents... unlocked gun in the home?

My buddy's friend's wife is a teacher there. Apparently he threatened to kill this same teacher before.

And the the shooter was 18- you can buy a shotgun legally at 18.

I always have my Guns locked, But
At 18 I wouldn't have had a worry about gun safety..
We just dont know what happens in some kid brain to spark something like this.

I think I heard his parents were recently divorced, he was bit of an outcast and geek, always like to argue, hated to ever be wrong, etc. Another troubled kid that never learned to cope. Dropped from the debate team so set out to kill - something's missing in this story.

It's not necessarily "missing in the story", It's missing from his life...

I don't want to judge the parents because I don't know them. But I think as a parent you should know when your kids are not acting "right". When they need a little extra attention, affection or some special praise. You should also know when they need to get scolded or punished for something. And they get it.

I think too many parents are so busy trying to put food on the table that they forget to take care of the more important things in life. Spending quality time with the kids... it's really simple. It's just very sad that it isn't happening.

Gotta go lose at a WI game with Annika now!!!...............

Jackie, I whole heartedly agree that, with many, the family structure has a fault (I did not say "is at fault" though the comment is not far afield).

Family structure, mental health, social network bullying are the arenas that I see could/should be addressed.

What "calls for help" did this kid put out that people did not catch?

other than him threatening to kill the same teacher prior?
