It's getting crazy here. I don't know what the causes are, but yeah, shooting, stabbing, fights, wrecks. We got it all.

now this is just my opinion so don't get all uppity or anything but I think its a lot of the rough crowds that come with and follow the military around since we have tons of military people in the springs...but yes its no fun and its worse when you read the non mainstream papers which is why im happily armed with multiple weapons alot

Agreed on the military. I appreciate all that are serving/have served but it definitely brings in a diversity thats not present in the rest of Colorado.

I think this has been true in most cities/towns that have large military populations for a long time.

Also yes on the Military, I have lived in the Woodland Park/ Colorado Springs Area since August of 1978, I have seen this town grow from About 200,000 in the whole of El paso county, to now at 570,000 I think on the last count, The city Colrado Springs proper has more people in it the The city of Denver proper I read some where. The whole south end of town ( where I work) is crawling with cops every night as I drive home, and yes most people in the crime stoppers news flashs are people from the military or just out of the military , (we have the new army hospital here , so all the retirees move here ) or have lived here less than a year. I am already thinking of leaving this town which has been my home for 35 years to find somewhere where I do not hear gun shots every holiday and week end nights and do not have to check the cars and side of my house for bullit holes afterwards. Very dissapointed in anything to do with the Military right now.

I have had several friends who were in the military go through Fort Carson and most of them agree. They were forced to live in fountain due to low military pay. Those that could moved north as soon as they could afford it. The military is facing a serious combat fatigued force where tensions at home are taking their toll. I personally know 3 soldiers who are on their 4th tour of duty in Afghanistan.

I know that since I served it is a whole different cookie these days, we are having a rise in problems at work with some that have been in the middle East conflicts destroying government property. They are believing that most of it is due to soldiers suffering from PTSD and not seeking help for it. I agree with that but also know that a good portion of this younger society has no respect or person to person communication skills w/o the use of electronics.

Sadly Ft. Carson has a HUGE Gang problem. It's fact and not some crap I read some where. One of my (former) neighbors is a Sheriffs Deputy and he relayed some the issues that they deal with on a regular basis regarding active duty gang members.
Does that mean everyone in Army fatiques is a gang-banger?
No.
Does it mean that a few pieces of sh*t garner a lot of attention from the media and give a lot of great people a bad name?
You bet your ass it does.
Last I heard crime is down over all, but because we are so connected via TV, radio, and the internet it certainly seems to be the opposite.
Bottom line....
Be aware, be cautious, be responsible for your own safety (and your families as well).

This!

And this is good advice as well.
