Last time I rode I ran across lost of ice and snow, I had a good time riding in and on it all. After the snow run yesterday I couldn't stop thinking of a snow run on the Bike.... anyone interested in setting something up let me know.

Many, many years ago, as a teenager, I took my 1971 Harley Davidson Baja 100 out in the snow, and broke the foot peg off, as the bike went down on some ice. Not a good day then :tisktisk: Had a really good ride at Rampart, a couple years ago, in the snow. But, it had just started snowing, so very little accumulation. The snow did keep the dust down, which is always a BIG plus!

After some personal experience, my 2002 yamaha yz250f was garbage in the snow, and my friends 76 kawasaki 175 2 stroke was amazing.
I did alright until it got steep, I would say 25 degree angle. If there was no ice underneath i might have been fine, but ice and 8 inches of snow is a no go. To much power is what I think happened, i would barley twist the throttle and the back end would just slide like crazy, but i think if i were doing somthing more flat, i might be in!

Well If it was to much power proplem.... then I have a problem !! 250f vs 426f = more problems ! Still wana try ot tho haha...
When the snow melts we got to set up another run..... but actully run with each other this time lol.

not just look at each other, I got the dirtbike fixed too! It ended up just being the main jet. Now the thing runs great!
I think if i maybe changed the sprocket out for a smaller one, i might be able to do a little better in the snow.

I used to ride in this big field by my house in the snow... Doing 100+ foot long power slides and throwing snow 20 feet into the air... Couldn't tell you why I don't do it anymore. Oh, wait.. That's right.. I can't get my bikes out of my backyard because the hill is too steep to get my bikes up it in the snow. I also winterize my bikes now from December-March.

That actully may work out ! Let me talk to the boss and find out if I can get a sitter. The A.M. is allwas best for me and if the broncos are playing that day back before then is even better.

If all goes well that's the week before the superbowl, so the Broncos should have it off. Earlier the better for me too, we can meet at the Loaf and Jug on 285 & 43 or Quincy & c 470 @ the Home Depot. What do you think?

Gona take what your says to be true and going to take the cr125r up instead of the yz426f. Cr less power newer tires and ligher to pick up. Plus I cant start my yz with out my bike boot and sure as hell not gona wear that slick thing up. So CR traction snow boots is my game plan. Hope you can make it out.

What tire PSI is recommended for playing in the snow ?
Squshiee1
January 20th, 2014, 01:41 PM
12 psi is what I ran last time and it was great. I am in for Sunday. I'm not sure about Jefferson lake but that is usually not to bad.

PM's can work for private stuff. Posting ride coordination stuff in "Chat" is fair game (IMO) (Who's meeting @ x @ y time, etc.).
The only thing that'd be off limits would be trail run planning / planned runs / the calendar for non-4x4 runs as those items are for Front Range originated 4x4 runs (there is _slight_ wiggle room on this [turkey run gets listed] but 2-wheels cross the line).
Get together, get out, have a blast!

Jefferson is a bit further than I wanted to drive.
I asked my buddy about Slaughter house, he has not been back there in a while but did say it will most likely be icy in the trees.
As it is I may not be able to go. I am trying to figure out some scheduling conflicts but would like to stay as close as possible because I may be on short time. Would you guys be able or willing to go later in the day???

On a serious note I did sell the DRZ - offer I couldn't refuse

Hey guys, I wouldn't be at the parking lot until 1:00 ish. That puts me about 3.5 - 4 hours behind you. I would be pretty worn out by then especially in the snowy slick conditions. You guys have fun, sorry the timing is off. I think I will bow out of this one and hope to ride with you guys another time.

Man that was fun !!!! Started at Rampart range 1st parking lot, was pretty much questionable if we even get 10 feet. It all worked out. We came up on some snow ice packed inclines tried one I got up fine but chase had some problems getting up due to to much powet at the wheels...we pushed and pushed his bike about 20 and seemed like for ever but was actully kinda fun. After we. Both got to the top we seen 2 more massive inclines out of breath we decided to turn around and pick another way....went up the road and got back on trail.after that we had a blast ! Chase took a nasty spill even if he dont thing he did got back up like a champ. We both fell about 4/5 each last time chase fell his front break leaver broke off I fell of in the dirt of all places haha. Had a small lunch at the top of the mountain and got some great views. Over all it was a blast to ride in snow and ice conditions. Ill do it as much as I can ! Sorry for any typos im writing thing from my phone

It was definitely a great day of riding. That bad spill that i took broke part of my rear fender, so my thought was just to replace the rear fender. But no since i have a graphics kit on it i have to find the sticker for the rear fender, good luck finding one sticker, that was the worst part of my day. Over all the fun and the Amazing views outweigh the spills. I was really more concerned about the bike more than i was me. Each time i wrecked i felt fine, but the bike didn't enjoy it.
I had a great time, but i think i will leave the snowy trails to my rodeo. Maybe.
The bike is quite fin in the snow! STUDDED TIRES!
