There are guys that have swapped VW TDI engines, or more popular, Mercedes diesels into the older Toyotas. Won't cost near as much either. Cool, but not for $14k.

Those Toyota Diesels are rare. Years ago I ran into a guy at the Yota Yard who had one. Said he paid something stupid like $6k for it and it was pretty beat up. He was running it on vegetable oil too, smelled like a frier when he pulled up. Cool ride but $14k is ridiculous.

wonder how much you could find (if you could find one) a motor for and if you could put on in a US 4runner. But I would think the VW/Merc swap would be cheaper.

That is a really clean 4runner. I dont think i have ever seen one for sale before of craigslist.
