Holy Cross? I never ran it because it's far away and I heard it's always a parking lot in the summer.

Any within the grands currant capability nothing to outrageous, I haven't ran to many trails yet eventually would like to go to Moab would like to hit Wheeler Geologic Area heard it has nice views both 4 wheelin and hiking trails probable could make a weekend of this one and a lot of picture taking opportunity, Medano just because it is relatively close to our property down south and we always go down there at least once a year typically trying to catch the spring run off at the dunes. Wouldn't mind hitting the north sand hills again it was fun.

Those are challenging, that's for sure.. but the other 3 are a different world. plus they're 7 hours away in montrose so I dont get to go there that often.. the trails are nuts though

I think about trying the the sand dunes. Don't know much about it - but will look into it. But I wonder how much all that sand can mess up your rig(???)

We are hoping if everything goes right between now and summer that we can do Holy Cross, Wheeler Lake, just try to hit as many as possible in Park County and do some camping.

Decided to print off all of the Colorado trails on Traildamage and make a personal check list for this year. Only checked off three from last year.

I like it. I've also thought about setting up a Colorado map with push-pins in my garage or basement..

I've been wanting to do Blanca for a while. Ideally make it an overnighter and camp at the top.
Need to get out to Ouray. I've been on Blackbear but not in my own truck. Need to fix that
Always like high elevation.

Jackie sand can test your rig make sure ur ujoints are good. Other than that after your done go to a car wash and spray it all down underneath. I did it for years and never had issues with the sand tearing up stuff. Just let me know if my ujoints needed replaced lol. I really want to hit the dunes this year. We will see if its in the cards or not.

I'd rather run the dunes than cross the water at MSV. I've ran the north sand dunes many times and never noticed sand in dif's, tcase etc but I've crossed MSV and got water/mud in both.

I hate mud. Just trying to get it washed off is a PITA. The only water crossings I have done have been pretty shallow, so no problem there. We drove past the Dunes on our way home from Ouray and they looked like fun from a distance. It just makes me want to look into it! Could be a fun thing to try this summer.

^Jackie, those might not be the same Dunes everyone is talking about. On the way back from Ouray, that might have been the Great Sand Dunes National Park. You can't really drive on those- you can skirt the edges. But you can hike (and sled) on these. Medano Pass trail will allow you to drive on the edge.
The other Dunes are up north somewhere.

Thanks Tom, I think you're right. Darn it! I'll keep looking. I just think sand might be fun. Never done it!

The other Dunes are in the north part of the state somewhere. You can drive on those. Or drive Medano Pass. It's on my list for this year. Probably camp on it somewhere- although you could easily do it without camping.

I've be done the same. I also use it to track which ones I've printed off. I keep a 3-ring binder in my truck with them because internet can be unavailable on many of the trails.

I've been once and would like to go again. This time taking the backroads from Red Feather Lakes over.
My personal tip, don't go in the heat of the summer unless you've checked the weather and like it desert f'n hot. Any time of year, take way more water than you think you'll need.
