Ran Switzerland and sugarloaf trails with a bunch of offshoots yesterday.
We left Longmont about 10:30 and it was cold. Face numbing cold.
Drove up to Gold hill and the sun was out and 45deg, no wind. Amazing weather. I got sunburned a little.
1st we ran the offshoots west of Gold Hill. Found some deep snow that required some team work:

Then we hit Switzerland proper. The snow wasn't too bad and we made good time. The two usual drift spots had drifts but we were able to drive thru no problem. The second drift someone had been stuck and hand dug a giant spot to get out. That had to be some serious work.
We ran thru Sunset and up to sugarloaf. North facing now so there was more snow but it was a blast. Hit the off shoot trails and found a LOT of snow.
It was getting late and we were driving back, instead of exiting Switzerland we took the right turn up the steep hill to FR 456.1. By now the snow had refroze and we were able to haul butt on the top, until we broke thru and were hopelessly stuck. Now it was getting dark and we were winching trying to get to the hwy, we were so close but so far. Then Ken wrapped a strap around his front tire and tore off the brake line. We vice gripped the line, bled the brakes and turned tail. Took a few more hours but we made it out back to Switzerland and the hwy.
Going down lick skillet rd with 3 brakes was white knuckle experience for KB but he made it. Good thing for 4-low and steep gears.
All in all one of my best days out wheeling for a long time. Snow bashing with two equal vehicles is a blast!
