The wife and I got back a decent amount on taxes and while I wanted to get material to build my own High Clearance rear bumper for the Taco, the wife suggested a camp trailer so that we could start taking family vacations to national parks or at least to trailheads of wheeling trails, etc. around Colorado and have a place to stay. Too often are we limited in what we can do becasue the journey to the destination PLUS whatever we want to do there takes too long and makes it impossible with kids. With a decent camper, we can drive to the destination, camp, then hit the trail, lake, etc. the next morning.
Anyway, I am looking for something with a heater, stovetop, sink, toilet and three beds. The lighter the better since I have only the taco to tow with (it does have a trans cooler and full tow package). I would like to spend 2500-3300 and am more interested in function than form (it doesn't have to be pretty, just mechanically sound). Have looked at CraigsList, but wondering if I could help out a FR member and get a good deal at the same time.

If you want to hit the national parks, and Yellowstone will part of it, consider a small hardsided. There are apparently multiple areas in Yellowstone where you can not have soft sided campers or tents due to the bears. Plus of course, it will keep you warmer. There are advantages and disadvantages to everything.

I have one I'm selling. It's not officially for sale yet, but I plan to sell it this spring.

Its a Jayco 10. So it's not really "short". I have seen the exact one lifted with some big tires and a longer frame. It's a 1995 so it's been around but it's in decent shape.

What you might have to do is build a trailer just for your family needs . Are you going to the anniversary run ? if so you can see the trailer I built, it is not pretty, it is big (hell so is my truck) . but since then I've been Colorado -New Mexico, Colorado-Mississippi river ,returned through Missouri-kansas ,mostly all on secondary roads . In October, took it through some of china wall area to see how it will do. Expedition portal has custom trailer builds check it out. good luck
