We are having an increasing problem with tree roots in our sewer line. It exits the back yard to the alley, and runs along the property line. The neighbors trees are right on the other side, and are apparently the "root" of the problem. We had it rooted out 6 weeks ago, which the problem was much closer to our house and probably our tree. Then 2 weeks ago, it appears it was the neighbors trees. Well, it is backing up again. We have had this house 12 years, and never had to do this more than every 3 years. We got it camera'd last time, and saw a "belly" but no collapse or other problems than roots. My rooter guy will be back out this evening, but I may need to have the line replaced. Figured I would ask here first in case anyone does this work. It exits the basement so it is about 6 feet underground and runs straight to the alley which is about 90 feet.

Similar issue at neighbors house last summer 10K and 2 days of work to fix
They pulled a new line through the old one and only dug at the house and street

I have heard of them doing that. The camera inspection came out fairly good except for the "belly" in the line for about 1/2 the back yard where there was standing water in it. Unsure if they can deal with that, but I will look into it. The city sewer is in the alley, so there isn't any concrete to take out which is the good news.

We just had whole line replaced from front of house to tap in the street done 3 weeks ago 45' ,cost just over $10k, luckily was able to get it done with a 0% financing over 5 years. I can give you the company that did it if you want.

Thanks Sean. PM me their info if you could please. Unsure what we will need to do yet, or if it truly needs to be done yet. This is about a 75' stretch from the house to the tap. That doesn't count the stretch under the basement.

If there is no digging in the street, contact Clyde over on CO4x4.org
He was cheapest by far when I did mine last year. I couldn't use him as he doesn't like dealing with the City when digging in the street. I ended up going with Roto-Rooter as they were very fair on price and were straight forward. They also showed up on time and could complete the work quickly. Many of the companies I talked to, tried to hide costs and their stories would change minute to minute.

There isn't any street digging. The sewer is in the dirt alley. I guess they have to get a "right-of-way" from the city along with a permit, but no concrete work or anything. I will see if I can find Clyde for his info.
