I'm not buying that's a tornado, I'd call it a fire devil (fire whirl ) but they usually require very high temp fires. Interesting for sure!

Tumbleweeds burn crazy hot, like dry pine trees. Had a neighbor in Texas building an underground house, had the walls poured, had about $10,000 of wood trusses & joists delivered in to the hole in the ground. Wind got up, filled the hole with tumble weeds. This "hole" was about 40 by 60 feet & 10' deep. This college professor dude tried to put some tumbleweeds in a corner & burn them a little at a time. He got out with burns on his face, hands, & arms. He was lucky he had an aluminum ladder to climb out on. Almost didn't get out alive. The volunteer fire department tried to put it out but couldn't. The 8" concrete wall at the end where the wood was stacked cracked & crumbled, the rest of the wall was no good due to the heat of the weeds burning along most of it. From start to finish was less than an hour. Next day he put up a for sale sign on his 30 acre weed patch. Total loss of over $20,000, no insurance, paid cash for concrete & wood. Sad.

I didn't know that, Charles. The fire devil makes sense to me now, thanks.

I haven't heard of any tumble weed fires around here, but they sure are getting piled up around houses, and schools. Surprising that no one has tried to burn them, and started another wildfire.
