Got my application in too. This is going to be my first hunt in Colorado. Doubt I'll pull a tag with zero preference points though. Planning on going the OTC/leftover route. Good Luck!

Yep! First time hunting for elk. I'm use to whitetails on flat Kansas terrains. I've been doing a lot of research but pretty will be doing this hunt blind.

Rick, thanx for the info.

Jovi, where did you draw? pref points arent always used. for example, 501. is almost always a 1 point bull area. but the last 3 years was 0 req for cows. lets see where all this goes. if it works out we end up in similar areas or OTC, ill team with ya.

Im so excited its stupid! between this and the FREE CPW guided Pheasant hunt ill be doing this year, its gonna be a great year! Oh, and Moab to!

Not an Elk, but I shot this guy (with the camera) a week or so ago by my mothers house (yes its legal to hunt around her house, no, he wasnt around in October when I had a tag)....

I put in for draw tags over in Gunnison (only 4 more years then I will draw, it takes at least 5 to draw in area 55 there) I get land owner tags for here....

You don't have to draw for that unit. Just the species. Draw for pref point 1st choice, then pick 3 units you want to hunt. A lot of times you those units. And points only dump on first choice. So you can't lose them that way.

1-pref point 2-39 3-501 4-39, 2nd season.

I would like to head a little more up north but for my first Colorado hunt, I want to stay kind of close to home. The point system is still new to me and I'm trying to figure out what areas are more popular.
