I start my vacation next week and trying to figure out where to go with in the state, want to stay in a B&B somewhere in the mountains for a day or two. Destination will determine whether we take the Bronco or the Mercedes.

Give me some ideas please!!!!!

Not sure what snow conditions are at wheeler geologic area, but I always thought it would be amazing. Huge volcanic ash formations. Never been, so I don't know what kind of nearby amenities are, but it is on my bucket list in the next few years. Maybe this summer!

I always love going to twin lakes or turquoise lake near Leadville but there may be to much snow still. Wheeler geologic area is somewhere I've always wanted to visit as well.

Thanks guys, Val is not giving me a lot of help and I would like to see parts of the state I've never been to before which is both the SW & NW corners. If we take the bronco it would mean somewhere closer to home since I haven't had it out yet for it's maiden voyage. Original plan was to use it and take the pop up trailer but I haven't even started the work on the trailer yet.

If you haven't stayed at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, you should try it. It's fun (with all the ghost story stuff). Be sure to do one of the tours! Then there are lots of close-by trails you could run.

Closer:

Took the Deckers road towards Woodland park, crossed over to Cripple Creek. Stayed in a wonderful B&B that was an old school house at one time. Then Phantom Canyon to Canyon City and back again. Could spend then you could stretch towards Buena Vista>Alamosa if the bronco plays along. In Buena Vista there are some hot springs that are nice.

Deep southwest you may run into a lot of closed trails this time of year still, might be a bit early to head that far down.

It's not a B&B, but the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs have had a major overhaul in the last year or two and it one of my wife and I's favorite places to go. they have pet friendly rooms that are pretty nice, and the new cabins around the new pools and spa are awesome. Its near a lot of other fun stuff too, and they have a pretty good restaurant on site. http://www.mtprinceton.com/

Telluride is a fun city, I stayed in Mountian village a long time ago, it was that trip that inspired me to move to CO.
