Ok you experts my Jeeperman Skidz shown in the picture when they were new are getting rusty with paint flaking off etc. They clamp around the frame and double as steps and rocker protection. I had them off once and cleaned, painted them etc but it hasn't lasted well at all. They were originally powder coated. They are good thick steel.
What would be good to coat them with that might last longer? I don't want to take them off just want to do the part you can see. I need to do rattle can or brush type stuff. Best way to prep?
Al suggestions welcome. I'll try to get a current pic in here. I've heard of bedliner etc but know little about this stuff
Thanks
Jim

I say rattle can, much easier to touch-up Jim. I touch mine up in the Fall and Spring at the cost of a can or two, can'y do that with berliner that gets scraped off.

Self-etching primer helps before the finish coats.

Rustoleum Hammered is a pretty durable paint that works well with a good self etching primer.

Walmart 96¢ spray paint. Holds up pretty good and is dirt cheap.

My wife works at Walmart so we'd get 10% off.

I never used a self etching primer. When I did my tank skid, I treated it with Jasco Metal Prep, painted it with Duplicolor Wheel Paint. I don't remember how many years ago I painted it, but the only areas where the paint came off is where I drug it over rocks.
