Hey guys,
My better half has made plans for next Thursday through maybe Saturday to stay with some friends who have a cabin out in the sticks near Westcliffe, The property and cabin sound really cool and pretty rustic, has an outhouse and what not, they say 4x4 is needed just to get to the cabin...
Since I am completely unfamiliar with the area (and I don't even have directions to the cabin yet). I was wondering if any of you might know if there are any good fishin spots near there? Somewhere I could go while the women folk are doin their thing... maybe an easy trail (rated 3 or less) with a lake???

Just thought I'd ask the board...

Thanks
Jeff

There's Medano Pass. Not sure exactly where it is, but it is close to Westcliffe.

I see DeWeese reservoir, without a location kind of hard to narrow it down.

South Colony Lakes trail wasn't too bad when I ran it late 70's. Heres the mvum. Don't know about fishing, but the scenery is omg.

You used to be able to drive within 1/2 miles of the lakes. Now you have to hike a ways it appears. Googling indicates fishing is good.

This area is my favorite spot in the state. I have been know to xc ski in in Feb and spend 5 days climbing the peaks and camping.
