Anyone intersted in running Halfmoon Creek this weekend? Thinking of possibly camping too depending on the weather. :thumb:

Thinking of heading out Saturday and camping somewhere close to the trail. Either that or just driving out and running the trail Sunday.

I do believe to be heading out Sunday. Friends are coming into town Saturday evening and I was thinking McClelland but this sounds great too (though a tad farther).

Undecided until I talk with the friends to see how late they get into town Saturday night and would wish to get up Sunday AM...

There's camping all along the dirt road into the trail- both sides of the road. Pay sites or free. There's also a couple neat spots on the trail after the first or second water crossing.

I'll be in Leadville the 23-25 if I get the days off. I could see about persuading my mom to go if the date were to change and I don't have to work the following day.

I'd be good with McClelland too. Your right it is closer for me too. Just looking to avoid large rock crawling because my truck isn't built up enough yet. Thought checking out some mines would be fun too and it looks like both trails have that.

I will check back tonight I could be up for the drive. Don't know nothing about either of these.

As for me, due to weather on Sunday, friends and I look to be pushing any trail (leaning towards McClelland / Argentine) to a Monday event. No trails for me this weekend...

I'm seeing devil's butthole hot in the city and 70s in the mountains all weekend, what am I missing?

I'd like to get out this weekend also. I see @FINOCJ is planning something in the area also. I'm open for ideas. Looking to tag along something easy. If the weather stays nice I would consider one night out as well.

I'm without a rear locker. At least for another week ;). So I'd like to take it easy too. Would any of you like to do Kingston Peak instead on Sunday? Just thinking that because it looks easier and closer. But if there are enough people that want to do McClellan or Halfmoon I am game for that.

McClelland/Argentine and Chinns/Loch/Kingston are all on my list to do. I have no preference. All are expected to be great trails. Chinns lake has fishing and great camping, too. I would really like to get up there.
Kingston has the loop option with Sheridan hill over to Yankee Hill which can go many ways from there.
McClelland has mines and if Argentine is clear of snow I would really love to drive up to 13k and see the summit.
I know @Jim knows all this like the back of his hand. I'm just looking to follow along. :steer:

I'm thinking Kingston and Loch tomorrow. Maybe bringing some camping gear if the weather looks alright. I'll start a trail run.

Colorado Rocky Mountain high country weather, always a chance for thunderstorms :) this weekend is 30-40% chances, best to assume it will rain and possibly hail, above 9,000 ft. for sure. That being said just go prepared and you'll be fine.

I will out and about again with both my kiddos. Not sure where we will go or end up, we may run into you guys on the trails or at the Loch, don't count on me being at the meet up though. I you need anything Eric, call me, you'll be in my backyard :)

Leaving here shortly to meet up in Rollinsville. Prepared for rain. Hope it stays clear. Thanks all.
