View Full Version : V8 VW Bug with long travel

I saw this guy up near Genessee on I-70 last weekend. He got on at the same ramp I did and went down a few ramps and got off. I was behind him the entire time, and wow, some HUGE clearance for a VW. Also, the V8 sounded pretty good, and the inside edge of the wheels don't even come close to the fender. The fenders are about useless. The track width consumed almost an entire highway lane. Way cool car though!

When I was doing a quick search online, I found several other similar ones. They apparently use sandrail wide track suspension parts on a Beetle. There is also a photo in this guys build page where he broke off the suspension in the dunes. Oops! Here is the page:
