Well I finally resolved my cooling issue ( just returned back to the OEM cooling system) and decided to finish my interior rack.
I stole the idea from a JK rack that Dutch has on his rig. So now I'm able to store all tools, recovery item, parts alond with 4-qts oil,2-qts tranny, 1-qt power steering and a gallon of antifreeze without loosing cargo space. Ran up to Chinn lake last week and everthing stayed in place and the jeep ran cool.

That's a good looking setup - can you shoot a few more pictures?

Nice, I noticed your using the taillight mounting holes for your swing out, did you mount taillights on the swing out?

Thanks, I'll try and get more detailed pics of the interior rack, and yes I relocated the light to the rear swing rack which is also tied to the cage for support.

Yeah I really like that rear bumper. You did an awesome job on that beast Steve. I can honestly say that as nice as his truck looks, it is still better in person.

Harbor Freight has those cargo racks on sale for $70 right now. They're winch-mount but I know several Jeep owners that have modified them for the interior of the Jeep:

Thanks Cliff!
That Harbor Freight rack (55"W x 19-1/2"D x 4-1/8"H) is really close to the one I built (41"W x 17-1/2"D x 5-3/4" ) had I known I would have used their's and cut 14" off and been done sooner!
Lucas here are a few more picks, the rack is 1" tubing its hinged on the rear with a 4-5" slot inorder for the rack to be slid back and drops 8" to gain access to the bags. I sure that drilling into the cage for the pins might have not been the best design but I dont think its going to weaking anything.

I really like this. Thinking about planning one in my Bronco over a sleeping area. I would probably weld tabs onto the cage for the pins & make the forward side of the rack higher to ensure no flying projectiles when jamming on the brakes going downhill or worst case a crash. Is there any change in COG, enough to tell anyway?

Thanks, COG feels the same although I do need to get the XJ weighted and would love to find a place to check the weight at all four corner for distribution. Tabs for all 4 corners is the right things to do for sure! I just got lasy and hate welding inside.
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the Bronco.

That is awesome! Great looking XJ!
Sometimes the simplest stuff on that XJ engine keeps it running well.
