Im interested in, incorporating Legos in to my high school Auto shop class.
I really dont have time to teach them how to tear down a transmission or have the actual tools and the complete knowledge todo so.
Plus its more a specialty skill anyways. But I would like to at least have and understanding how everything messes together.

I ran aross these lego transmission kit but All im finding is a custom kit on ebay for 45 bucks !
Being on a budget and having 10 groups of 4 to 5 students per group and wanting a groups of two complete one of these kits at 45 +sh is not gona happend anytime soon.

Anyone know of any local suppliers that would sell these kits ?
I have not looked in to local hobby shops yet because im in Texas till Tuesday but plan on it once I get back to work.

Any help would be wonderful.

Thanks
Adam

Lego prices are very controlled. It will be difficult to find it much cheaper.

What about multiple sets at this price ? Seems I can only find one set at a time. Maybe I can get 4 sets at around 50

Neat idea, but I guess I am confused as to how you expect to find a place to sell you 4 different sets for a total of $50 when each set normally costs $45. So you want to pay for one and get 3 free? I know you are a school, but that's a little over reaching... Sure, discounts might apply to some bulk orders, but I don't think anyone has ever classified 4 as "bulk".

I guess I also don't understand why you don't just get a bunch of core transmissions for them to tear apart and build. Would cost less than the Lego version and they would get to play with the real thing. And IMHO there is not a better teaching tool than playing with the real thing.Heck, I bet you could get a local shop or two to donate a few to you as well. Wouldn't hurt to even check with a couple of the local yards either.

I can't really afford to donate anymore this year, but I might even have a extra tans or two that are just sitting taking up room. Could probably convince me out of them for pennies on the dollar. Or wait till next year when my tax year starts over. Then I might be able to donate them...

I would have been fine with letting you have a transmsision core I had in the shop vs getting the money for it. If another comes my way I will let you know if you are interested. BMW automatics fail quite nicely for a school setting. Slip and such but no hard parts through the side.

ETA: Most companies don't consider something a "bulk" order till you get over at least 50 units, and many consider 100 the cut off. And even then you are looking at a 10% per item discount for a bulk order.

Surly you cant belive I ment 4 custom set for 50 bucks just because im part of a school system.
But I can see the confusion....

I truly dont have the time in one school year to cover on a tranny rebuild. As I stated before its more of a specialty and id like them to see how things mesh together. On top of that the space issues come along with having up to 12 transmissions apart at once and the storage space is not there.
Thanks for your offers for the trannys you have offerd but its either buy brand spanking new or donations only its just how the system works.

And of course there is no better way to learn with the real thing.....but when our class is over populated its just not possible to keep ALL the kids attention.

I can go on and why but in the end this WILL benefit my class room.

Thanks for the clarification. I was just going off what you posted. And it didn't seem to make sense, hence the questioning. Sounds like you know what you want. Hope you are able to find an easy solution!

There just happend to be some extra money I was able to apply for with in my school.
Im most likely going to be getting 15 transmission sets and 6 kits that will will turn them in to AWD transmissions
I did get a deal ! The private selller who custom builds these sets was willing to drop 10% of the entire purchase if I purchased at least 12 sets.
