Got a request from a couple of people to run China Wall on the 24th. I will post on the Calendar if interested.

For those that are interested in doing a snow run. The trail is mild to wild so stock to fully loaded are welcome. Most obstacles have a bypass but there are a couple that cannot (those are fairly mild).

Meet: Rudy's Country Store & BBQ
315 South 31st Street
Colorado Springs, CO 80904

Time: 9 am depart 9:15- Convoy to the trailhead approx. 40 miles

Trail requirements: Basic Off road gear, recovery gear, cold weather gear, food and drink.

I'll most likely be making this. It would only be a last second hiccup with my family that would cause me to bail out, but that is unlikely.

Does this trail ever get too much snow, where it would be impassible? I'm thinking about making the trip.

Not that I've seen. Went out the day after a big storm went through and it wasn't too bad at all.

Was there on Saturday. Hardly any snow. And the trail overall isn't hardly worth the drive down from Denver. It's a bit of a snooze-fest actually. If you're relatively stock and/or open, it could be more fun. But the Lamd Cruiser in my group with highway tires went through everything without issue. The "wall" itself looks ridiculous and pointless.

We had more fun snow bashing on La Salle Pass than on China Wall.

Does this trail ever get too much snow, where it would be impassible?2 yrs ago at the Anniversary Run we had to winch and pull several people due to the ice on the trail....If you have never been, check it out, like has been said not a hard trail at all but a perfect place for the Anniversary Run

Looking at the Google earth track it does look pretty easy, but I've never done it and I'm currently stock plus I'm more looking forward to meeting some more local wheelers.

It is definitely not a difficult trail, however the snow and ice do add to the fun. Most of those that wanted to do the run are relatively stock and/or fairly new to the sport. It is a social run that has some challenges and will be fun. The main idea is to meet some fellow wheelers, introduce some people to the sport and plan future runs.

Sounds like a plan to me! :thumb:

Here is a video of the 2012 Anniversary Run when it was pretty icy. Starts off at the wall, as you can see not much of an obstacle but good for a wide variety of rigs to enjoy.

That's a very long time from now! I'm sure I'll be able to make it.

Between this beautiful little angel and my Jeep having been in poor repair for the last several months I haven't been doing much wheeling. I went out in October a couple of times.

Jeep's got new shocks all the way around and new rear upper mounts welded on - I had been running a collapsed mono shock rear end for some time. All Fox 2.0's, threw a shackle on the back to level it out because of my sagging rear leafs, new wheels, new tires, IRO tie rod, all new tie rod ends, new steering stabilizer, Banks header, Banks head pipe, magnaflow catalytic converter, new front control arms, drive shaft U joints, got an ugly home brewed steel front winch bumper.. Still no winch yet though.

Last of the parts show up Monday and I'm ready to rock after I retest for emissions on Tuesday with the new cat.

Jeep on the new wheels and tires, October 2014 Slaughterhouse. The wheels were a junkyard find, I sanded, prepped and painted them. Kinda like the "Limited Gold" look. Scored the tires used, cheap as well. Fronts were pretty feathered so I put them on the back. They vibrate a bit, but there's a lot of life left in them, I'm sure they'll even out eventually.

Currently have 13 rigs confirmed for the run, with another 6 maybes'. It is shaping up to be a pretty good size group.

Gonna cap the number of rigs. Just found out that there are 2 other groups running the trail that same day so that would put the total number at over 27 rigs.

You just bought it:) Nitto are the best, but I went with ProComp MT2 (in 35" though)and am extremely surprised at how they are performing. I know you are looking at 37". Good luck. We'll catch you on the next run.

Here is the latest list of who is going. If I missed anyone please let me know so I can add them to the list.

The Plan
We will be meeting up in the Rudy’s Parking located at 315 South 31st Street, Colorado Springs, CO. Please be gassed up and ready to roll by 9:00 AM. The plan is to depart at 9:15 AM make our way to trailhead (Hwy 24 to Tarryall). Once at the trailhead we will air down and disconnect. When everyone is ready we will head out wheeling. There are a few obstacles that are optional and can be bypassed. There are a couple of mild that cannot be bypassed. The plan is to be down to China Wall by lunchtime, we will stop to play and have lunch.

What You Need to Know
Please be aware that it will most likely be cold so please pack/dress accordingly. Also, you need to make sure that you bring plenty of water as well as a lunch and snacks for you and everyone in your Jeep. While we "should" be done with this run by sundown, anything can and often does happen out on the trail and you NEED to be prepared for a long night - just in case. You also need to know that there are no bathrooms on this trip. I will be sure to stop periodically in a location where it's more advantageous for the ladies to find cover but that's the best I can offer. Likewise, there are no trash facilities so you need to be sure to pack out what you pack in. Last but not least, it's not a requirement but, if you have a CB, I think you will find this trip to be a LOT more fun. We will use Channel 14 unless otherwise informed.

If you think you can join us or have any questions about this run, please let us know by posting them up on this thread.

I went ice fishing at Tarryall last Sat. then over to China Wall around 2PM. The trail is Snowy/Icy in shady areas but not bad at all. We ran into two Cherokees and help them in a couple spots but nothing serious. got on the trail at 230 and back out by 345.... weather is suppose to be pretty good this weekend as well so you guys should have a good time...
