My dl expires on Monday. The Longmont DL office is notorious for horrendous service. Anyone know of one to the North of Denver with shorter wait times and better service so I can get it renewed?

Can't do it by mail or online as I did that last time.

Make an appointment. You walk in with 50 people in line and in about 5 min they call your name.

at least that's how it worked for me.

I have always had good success with the one in Golden. It is a bit of a drive but there is never much of a wait.

Yea, the Jeffco Taj Mahal generally isn't too bad. Avoid Mondays (doesn't help you now) and Fridays and avoid first thing in the am, lunch and end of the day.

Advice straight from the DMV horse's mouth....

I have heard that the office out at I-25 and 119 is not usually busy.

Here's what I did when I needed to renew at the Longmont office.

1. Show up
2. Curse that the line is so long and take a seat for a long, long wait (2 hours?)
3. Listen to their audio loop about the dmv and what documents you need. I heard about online renewal.
4. Pull out my smart phone and renew online, from the DMV. http://www.dmv.org/co-colorado/renew-license.php
5. Leave after 10 minutes there and get my license in the mail a week or two later.

From the state online renewal guidelines:

OnlineTo be eligible to renew your CO driver’s license online, you’ll need to meet all of the following requirements:

You are a U.S. citizen.
You are over 21 years old.
You are under 65 years old.
Your regular adult CO driver’s license is valid OR expired less than 1 year ago.
You received your current driver’s license in person, or have not renewed online the past 2 renewals.
You’ve had an eye exam with an optometrist within the last 3 years.
Your name has not changed.
The DMV has your Social Security number (SSN) on file.
You are not required to take a written or road test.
You have no medical restrictions, outstanding tickets, or pending actions on file.
You have not submitted any bad checks to the Colorado DMV.

Clearly I can't read... :( Also, they apparently keep changing the rules because I had a 10 year license and renewed online and now it says that's disallowed.

Good luck Tom!

And I found this....

You may renew online or by mail two times in a row if your photograph is less than 10 years old

I've renewed once online, but my photo is now ~11 years old so I'll have to go in person next time.
