I'll be at the Loaf n' Jug at the entrance to Slaughterhouse @ 11:30. I kinda don't wanna run Slaughter although if things aren't so packed that direction than maybe. I do wanna do something else though :P

Slaughterhouse is a lost cause, I'll post some pictures when I get them. About 75 feet from the highest cattle guard there's a 3-4 foot shelf of ice/HARD packed snow. Unless you've got serious diff clearance, tire chains, and maybe a winch you're not gonna make it. We had to dig out for a few hours today and 285 was a nightmare coming home this evening.
We were finally able to use the high lift jack to jack the front of the rig up and put a bunch of logs under the tires to get the front axle out of the ice...
Hiked around for a bit after we got unstuck and headed home.

Pickle isn't too bad right now. I stopped by this morning after dropping my kid off at daycare. drove in a ways in 4hi and had no issues. I didn't air down or anything...it did eventually get too deep for me to keep going w/out airing down and being serious about it. but I would think with a few rigs it might not be that bad.
this was coming back down, just above the first obstacle/bypass/pit thing...

I could be up for this if I don't need chains

That goes for me as well..I'm chainless. I've got a 99 full size montero on 265/75 16 Cooper atp tires and a locking rear diff. I haven't done pickle gulch but I'm assuming my rig would be able to do it?

I'm assuming my rig would be able to do it?depends on snow conditions, that 1st hill climb can be a pain if slick :2c:

that's what I was going to say. I'm on 35s and would have needed to air down to get further than I tried. it looked a little deep where I stopped. some guys ran it last week and they had a winch-fest, but I also think there was more snow then. it's been sunny and melting the last few days up here, so if there's at least 1 rig with 35's or larger at the front, I would think you'd be fine.

We ran pickle just a few weeks ago.
6 jeeps started 5 jeeps made it to the first hard climb with the side out/optional. That was like 1 mile and 6 plus hours and each one took the winch!
Way to much work. We had snow this week so it may be deeper. The higher we got the deeper and softer it got.
So Brandon you shouldn't run hackett with out someone who has been in there. The gultches get steep and the rock face are slick when snowy the rock there is not forgiving at all.
I have been down metberry and long water granted they are easier but the fact is you are new to your rig and will have a newbie with you, not a good combo.....we can run the gultches and cedar mt. Road instead of Illinois gultch.
longwater rock could be a slick mess.....

Yup.....you and I can go play after we run with the others.
Hackett requires 33's and at least one locked axle. I have been wanting to go do that one for sure.
The other 2 are much like Illinois gultch.
They offer steeper climbs and one good rock face each....no optional out on these.

nah. I did it with my Explorer. It did have 33s at the time but open diffs and laughable suspension flex. Just got to know how to pick the right line for the rig. Which is why I think everyone should wheel open-open for a couple years. Jumping in to a built rig doesn't do you any favors.

I want to go play, but have to skip it for tomorrow. Putting in CB in the morning and lunch with the in-laws after that (must be paying for bad karma???). Went up behind Central City Monday and a lot of snow was melted. Went until it looked too deep - the wife was worried about breaking a nail digging and pushing - because we were alone and didn't want to have issues. Was MUCH clearer than 2 weeks before as far as snow. I'd be willing and able to go Sunday if anyone is going. Supposed to have lift in the 7th and will HAVE to go ASAP after that..... Last weekend 4 of us plunked around Rainbow Falls (I think - haven't had a chance to look at maps, and someone else had directions and led the run mostly on FR 348. Was great day, blue skies and got to try the new Jeep out.
