So, the other day I fired up the swamp cooler at my moms house. It seemed like it was working allright, but what we didn't know was that despite winterizing it there was still some water in the supply line over the winter and it froze and cause a hole that we didn't find out about till too late.
Needless to say, it loaded up a bunch of the blown in cellulose with water before making it into the drywall and a 15x15 section fell in. Lots of water, lots of cellulose and rock wool insulation and a lot of still wet drywall to remove.
Thanks to home insurance its all covered minus the deductible, so now we are looking for some contracting companies to come in and fix it all. The house was built in the 60's and the paint seems to have some asbestos in it, so an abatement company will be coming in to remove the drywall in the next few weeks. We are still looking for a General contractor or a series of contractors to replace the drywall, seem, flat and texture it, and paint as well as someone to sand down the hardwood floors and refinish them. The insurance company gave us the choice to find someone ourselves, so I figured I would ask around and try to find reputable companies with good referrals from people. They need to be licensed and bonded and willing to work with the insurance company. Oh, and the house is in Lakewood, so someone who doesn't mind coming down here.
If you run any of these or have a company you had good experiences with, then let me know. I like to support like minded people, which is why I'm asking here.
