Hello folks, I am thinking about running Slaughterhouse Gulch this weekend but I am curious how deep the water crossings are now. Has anybody run it recently in the last few weeks or talked with anybody who has run it? I haven't run it before but it looks like there could be some deep water crossings at the bottom of the gulch before you make the hill climb out. I also saw on the news this morning that Chatfield Reservoir is semi-flooding so there has to be a lot of water coming down from the high country. Thanks for your help.

I ran it about 3weeks ago. The water is deep and the pits are dug out badly. Several vehicles needed to be extracted from some of the holes. Don't go alone and don't go with out good recovery equipment/winches. There has been a lot of logs and branches tossed into some of the ruts, bring a spare tire and plug kit.

Thanks! How deep is deep? Over 30 inches? I'm wondering about a stock JK making it through. How long did it take you to complete the loop? 3-4 hours?

I had a trail report from the dude doing some sewage work in front of my place.. He lives a few blocks from the trailhead. He said he was able to bury his wrangler unlimited on 35s about a week ago.

The trail is in very bad condition. There is a work day scheduled for the 27th to try and fix some areas.

As stated, it was/is in bad shape. Stock Jeep without high clearance and lockers, your asking for trouble. Im sure guys have been bypassing some of the holes and thats just going to end up closing the trail, thats not good.

I used to live about 1/2 mile from there. Hurts a little inside to hear it is tore up and facing the possibility of closing. People need to be of a mind to leave it good for the next guy. We even killed an elk on that trail way back when. I had a '93 Dakota that I drove all over Slaughterhouse. Then I bought a 96 extended cab Dakota and bent the frame the day after I bought it when I hooked a tree stump in a place I had driven over a hundred times. My ex step brother hit some aspens in my first jeep on that trail. Dad rolled my ATV on it..... Now that I think on it, there's a lot of Memories about that trail. Maybe I can get the 27th off and go to the clean up. I owe it to the trail I think.

FYI. Ran the trail this weekend and it wasn't bad at all. There was one spot in the bottom that was pretty washed out. Lots of people on the trail.
