Is everything up there marked pretty well?

Planning a day trip with my old man and his dad.. Was hoping to just explore off of the Moffat Tunnel Road.. Are things in that area pretty passable at this point in time? Anything I should avoid or expect? We'll be heading up around 9:00 A.M..

The trailhead is decently easy to see. The trail is 1.5 vehicles wide and of consistent (somewhat flat) grade. If you're not looking at the ?one? side trail, no markings are needed - follow until the dead end is at hand then get out and walk to the partially collapsed, blocked off, ?needles eye? tunnel (if folks wish to process the walk to it - 1/2 mile???).

Good views. Sections, imo, are a tad bumpy.

The eastern portal of the current Moffat tunnel will be a stop as it's ~3/4 mile from the trailhead. There is a roadside stop somewhere between Rollinsville and Tolland that has a 5' x 5' Moffat Line info board.

you wont' make it all the way to the tunnel yet, as there is too much snow. however, like Jim said, the trail is easy to find and has some great views. definitely air down if you don't want your teeth to rattle out. :) there is a free air compressor along 119 at the car wash about 5 miles south of Rollinsville if you'd like to air back up. or there are a few in Nederland if you're coming from the north.

That's excellent info. Apparently my grandpa can't make it tomorrow, my old man and I are going for something more technical now.

Anyone know how Bill Moore Lake looks right now?
