Check this out! I got this coin from a pen pal when I was in elementary school. A kid in Africa somewhere I believe. I have carried it around in my junk drawer for almost 30 years and I finally got around to having it looked at by a friend who is in to coins.
Now look at this
http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/greece/judaea/pontius_pilate/t.html Pretty sure it is the 649.1, meaning it is from 26-30AD! Almost 2000 years old!

That is very interesting. I would be curious how it got to Africa. I am sure it is has some miles on it.

Cool!

Would you consider having it checked for authenticity (real deal vs. 1950's summer carnival prize)?

It's the type of thing that I don't think it'd let it out of my sight.

`would be curious to know if it was from "back then"!
