Does anybody need a New 3/8 thick 100 foot long winch cable ? I bought a new Smittybilt 10,000 pound winch. I took off the cable and put on my synthetic winchline. Free to good home. :)

A kind offer!
If nobody jumps for it, I'd stash it for a resource for a recovery task... Put me lower on the list - see if someone wants it in a day or few let them have it.

I'm considering the same thing on an older winch, XD9000i. What makes a drum synthetic rated? I know the fairlead gets changed.

Overheating of the synthetic material from drum-mounted-brake type of winches:

In my search results came this "ATV winch" article. Interesting to kick here for the jeep crowd (drum ends being bent and broken due to the rope digging down and pressing "out" against the drum's ends):

i have not heard of a brake heat issue as we dont use these for hours and hours on end at a time but i have seen the drums cave in because they are too thin and the synthetic line will bunch up and crush into one single spot instead of the cascading effect that wire will do. and this is just me but number 2 and 3 on that list jim are not dangers but ignorance lol and yes jim that second article says it that the rope digs into itself :)
