I've been looking for a lockable box for the back of my Jeep and found this one at a great price- the price changes almost daily on Amazon, I paid 44.57 with free shipping. If you refresh the link a couple of times, search around on Amazon, the price changes. I've seen it fluctuate from 44.57 to 89.99. It's a decent box, not heavy duty but acceptable for locking up my trail gear. It would take some tools and time to break into it, so it will discourage the opportunists- serious thieves will just take the whole jeep. :lmao:

It fits right between the rear seat mounts (my rear seat lives in my basement) and the OEM bolt for the rear seatbelts is in a perfect spot to bolt it down, I just drilled a hole in the bottom of the box. Hammered black rustoleum is an almost perfect match for the finish, I'm giving it an extra coat before it goes in. Pics soon!!

so I took out the carpet in the back of the Jeep, it just lifts out. There are footman loops, and in the center you can see the bolt hole where the seatbelts used to attach.

I put straps through all the loops- four black ones are just to hook to around the box, and the two yellow ones hold my crossbars when I fold down the windshield.

carpet back in- bedliner is coming this winter

I bolted the box down, but I'm upgrading this to a larger plate / longer bolt

the box in place, I have 25" to the tailgate and 15" to the back of my seat (all the way back). The bungees will become ratchet straps after I load it and lock it.

this is what goes in it, less the cat and mat. Big bag with lots of stuff (socket sets, tire kit, jumper cables, winch stuff, bottle jack, bfh, folding shovel, saw, hatchet, multimeter, tapes, misc. parts, tools, etc...), tool roll, compressor, bag of straps, pry bar. Nothing too valuable, only worth stealing to a meth head going to the pawnshop. it should be enough security for trailheads and parking lots.

so its 31" wide x 10" tall and 13" deep? i may have to get one of these for my rig. i need some kind of a box to put in the back for my junk. was thinking about building a drawer but this would be alot easier and get alot of crap out of my center console.

That's the size- the only issues so far are the handles are different than the pic, not a problem really, and the hinges are riveted on to the box part (spot welded to the lid) which I don't like, I'm drilling between the rivets for a small bolt. Overall it was worth it, I'd recommend it.
