So this is my rear axle, pretty clearly the pinion seal is shot. I picked up a new seal and nut, and it looks pretty straightforward, but I've never done this job before- any advice? Anything I can learn the easy way before I get started? :lmao:

It is pretty straight forward and simple. Drain the fluid to prevent making a mess. Use a seal puller to prevent damaging the housing around seal. New one taps into place easily.

Do these diffs run a only shims or a crush collar too?

that was pretty easy. the Omix-ADA seal is significantly different from OEM, but fits well. I used RTV on the seal edge and collar splines, and the pinion nut was a breeze with my HF electric impact driver http://www.harborfreight.com/power-tools/drivers/12-in-heavy-duty-electric-impact-wrench-68099.html. I got it as a gift and thought it was going to be junk; it's my go-to impact now, it's so much easier and faster than setting up my compressor, and it works great. If your vehicle has 110 you can carry it for trail use too.
