Ran across this and thought I'd share, I despise and "Charity" that pads it's pocket first and foremost.

"Wounded Warrior Project may have began as a worthy cause that helped a lot of people, but it has since become a questionable charity that is struggling to make the grade.

According to Non-Profit Quarterly, WWP received a “D” rating from the American Institute of Philanthropy, C+ by Charity Watch, and “three out of four stars” from Charity Navigator. In short, it’s a mixed score that doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.

In addition, Wounded Warrior Project brought in $342 million in 2014, and only 55 percent of that goes to actually helping veterans in need while the other 45 percent is used for administrative expenses, $473,015 of which is the salary paid to CEO Steven Narduzzi."

Wow this is extremely unfortunate news. They are a big reason I buy under armor and usually the first group I donate to if I have the spare money. I'll have to keep my eye on the whole situation and see how it pans out.

I just read about it and found this has been known by many veterans for years, it doesn't look like they'll be changing their ways.

I agree that we shouldn't give generously to such organizations, but it would be cool if we could organize a run here and welcome vets to join us and ride in our vehicles as a guest. We could prepare a wonderful luncheon, and perhaps have a "Donation Station" set up where we could leave our gently used clothing and other items that they could take home for free.

I think we would need at least a few people experienced in the medical field (CPR to say the very least). The rest would just be everyone trying to show another person a good time in our beautiful state.

Ideas anyone???

Wish I knew that before my last donation. I will have to keep a eye on this as well as research a better option.

As a retired and disabled vet I would recommend Disabled American Veterans (DAV) as a much better choice for charitable giving. They are one of the first organization most all retiring or separating military members meet. IMO, the DAV are true advocates and guides for those making the transition from uniformed service to the civilian world.
