We have my 2008 Jeep and a 2000 Honda Oddy mini van.I was looking over my insurance bill the other day and decided to cancel the comp and collision insurance on the van. I Insisted that I only wanted what makes us legal with the van, but full coverage on the Jeep.

The insurance guy with Gieco was good. He kept trying to get me to hold on to full coverage on the van.

Gieco guy: But what if a tree branch falls on your van?
Me: I guess I drag it off...I don't care.
Geico guy: What if someone backs into your bumper?
Me: The bumper fell off 6 months ago... I don't care
Gieco Guy: Don't you care about this car anymore?
Me: No. Not really. Scratches and dents won't ruin my day.
Gieco Guy: Now what about the coverage on your Jeep?
Me: Leave it alone!!!:lmao:

That is a funny conversation! The rule of thumb is "if you can afford to replace it, then don't insure it". The van is getting old enough that it would not be a great loss if you had to replace it out of pocket.

I had Geico and got tires of the rates continuing to go up. A co-worker has a friend who is an independent agent. I spoke to him and he cut our bill dramatically. He works with several different companies, but got us the best deal with Safeco. Here is his info if you get tired of Geico.

Same here. Left geico to go to a independent agent. Insurance is half as much with a teenage driver.
