Those of you who have been around here a long time will recall how this forum changed frequently when I was at the helm. I'm sure the majority are happy that current and previous admin's don't have the time or inclination to do that sort of thing. :D

I have a lot of free time and still enjoy messing with websites and found 4x4colorado.com domain name wasn't being used so I picked it up as my current "project." It will not interfere or complete with Front Range 4x4 in any way whatsoever and I really don't have any plan in mind.

With that being said I'd appreciate some beta testing from you folks to see what does and doesn't work. If you have a bit of free time yourselves please give it a try. Currently I'm working on image uploads and automatic resizing which works to some degree.

Here's the site - http://4x4colorado.com

Thanks to anyone willing to give it a try!

Captcha is now configured, I think.

Thanks again...

The Captcha seems to be working now, but there is some sort of security question: What is 4x4?

Chris
February 28th, 2016, 07:54 PM
4x4=16 - another way to keep registration bots at bay. ;)

Ha! - not how I was interpreting that question! got it now.

Chris

I see why it confused you, I'll change it! This is the kind of stuff that I easily overlook, thanks James.

Thanks Tom, I'll look into it since a few people were able to register. Must be a mail issue.

Could the host you're on be at odds with the mail server Tom's using - realtime block list issue?

Anyone else that recently registered have the same domain as Tom's e-mail?

Chris
February 28th, 2016, 11:25 PM
That's always a possibility, I'll see what I can find.

I joined up, but still waiting for the confirmation email. Under the name of Cosmo.

They would not have the same domain as my email. My domain is crosman.org. Double checked mac.com (cxs@mac.com) and nothing from there hit my mail server. I white listed your email then tried my gmail acct. Got the email on it. Tried a resend on my crosman.org and now get it too.

All is good as far as setting up an acct. Think it didn't send previously cause now I see it on my server tracking app.

Sorry about that Mark, I was just going to post that thanks to those of you who tested it I've concluded the software was junk. I'll be going to a different one when I get a chance. I have the basic setup showing now but I have it closed until I get around to finishing it up enough for testing.

I'll update after I make progress.

Thanks to all who gave it a try!

Nice to see Rick. I got past my frustration of this morning, tried a different forum and went back to the same one. It's a good thing I like to mess with this stuff because every add-on needs work due to updates. I'll be happy when I can get the gallery working.

Thanks for the testing folks!

I've abandoned that forum and am on to something else that will probably take a while to set up, etc.

With any luck I'll have something new for you to test sometime in the future.

Well, when Aaron can get into the vBulletin account so we can re-download a copy, you can play with that on a test forum!

Chris

That's the plan, it would be great to get those few glitches taken care of!

Sorry guys. Been crazy. Chris. Did you get my emails?

Chris

Sure did, thanks so much. Now we'll be able to set up a test forum and figure out how to fix the yellow box errors, etc.

Much appreciated!

A test site, copied from the live site as of last evening, is set for Chris (and perhaps me) to work with. For now, it is not being announced for members to look at / test / use. It gives Chris something good to see about resolving the issue with yellow box one-day-off and perhaps site stability.

4x4 Colorsdo is live again with different software. It would be nice if a few of you would give it a try. Registration is simple - fill out the form, respond to the email and you're in.

This is version should work equally well on any device - desktop, laptop, tablet, phone, etc. I don't own a phone so I'm interested in hearing how that works.

If you register please post an intro. Photos don't need resizing and are uploaded using drop & drag. Pretty cool IMHO.

Thanks in advance. :thumb:

Still not getting the confirmation email.

There were two requiring approval which I did manually. I'm not sure why the email isn't going through. I suspect Jim was right earlier when he mentioned your server/host may being blocked. I'll look into it.

This is beta so there are bugs to work out.

I saw that which is why Jim's comment makes sense. I'll wait for more feedback as I make small changes to see if it's a glitch or just a fluke.

How about doing an intro with photo again Tom? Sorry that I lost your previous...

Not sure which software you are running but there are lots to choose from.
Xoops and Drupal are both fun to dive into. Adding modules like Gallery are easy once the framework is setup.
Good luck with it :)

This is codoforum, very beta! I messed with Xoops - didn't like it. Haven't looked at Drupal though.

Thanks for the testing folks, I appreciate it!

I have officially opening http://4x4colorado.com for public use. If anyone cares to use it please do so and provide your input on what you'd like to see on the forums. This is a design with mobile devices in mind and is intended for that use. It does work fine on desktops and laptops of course.

It's probably the most efficient forum around for uploading photos, adding video, etc.

This will not compete or interfere with Front Range 4x4 in any way.

I look forward to some of your input and participation as I get things rolling. :thumb:

4x4 Colorado is back online. I really like the software I started with and after some initial problems I've worked out the bugs and have added some functions that it was previously lacking that it really needed.

Since so many of us access websites via various devices I think having a site designed for mobile devices makes more sense than using intermediary apps or not being able to use a website because it's designed for desktop computers. While it may have a small learning curve I think the functionality will please users.

The intent here is to have an easy to use, fast & efficient forum for all of Colorado. It certainly does not to compete with Front Range 4x4. If you have room in your days for another 4x4 forum check it out.

:lmao: Okay, so you folks didn't like my cutting edge forum so I switched to a more conventional one. It's still responsive so it will work on phones & tablets.

I decided to spend some of my abundant free time doing something productive. I chose to work with this forum software again and believe I have it wrapped up. It's much improved over previous versions so if you're inclined to give it a try that would be great. If not that's fine too! :thumb:
