Does anyone near the greater Denver metro area have a tapered reamer I could use to enlarge the tie rod holes in my knuckles? Using the Chevy one ton drag link ends in the tie tod location, which are of the same taper but larger diameter. I'd only need to make my existing tapers slightly deeper...enough to allow the cotter pins to be installed. Figured I'd ask here before buying one that will only be used once. Thanks!

Chris

if you can not find a reamer to use you can always use some of these http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/INSSTEER.html

Hmmm.....if I was going to drill it out I would go hiem joint. Instead of a drop in fitting.....
Leaves to much to move around in my honest opinion.

Any tool rental places have such an item?

Any buy/sell tool shops might have one (rare odds, I realize).

Try EanG terminal they sell all kinds of tools. They might have what you need.

Wow, thanks for all the replies and suggestions, guys!

That drop-in insert is a great idea, though it seems to be for other types of vehicles. That is the size I have now (truck is a 1 ton Chevy and thus already has that size taper in the knuckles). The taper is the same but mine need enlarged/reamed deeper to use the Chevy 1 ton drag link ends in the knuckle.

Never heard of EanG terminal and a quick google search didn't shed light on that either. Where is it? Local or online?

Northridge 4x4 has the reamer I need but are scheduling a month out. I may be able to rent one from the place that I bought my tie rod from, but wanted to see if anyone local had one first.
