View Full Version : Pondering building a crossover buggy thing

I have been itching to build a cross between a rock buggy and a RZR, something that would fit on most single track trails but yet have the articulation to conquer large rocks and ledges, something a RZR has problems with. The frame would be all tube, tight 2 seater , small V8 (purely for the fun factor) and most amenities of a RZR.
BUT, and here is where I need YOUR opinions.

Would you:
Go solid narrowed axles (high pinion or portal) OR Modified for flex Independent suspension;
Run what size tires;
What features would you want?
What would you call it?

Im sure someone, somewhere has already done this but really, I want a truly custom, built specifically for Colorado trails rig.

Single track trails are limited to 24" wide. ATV trails are limited to 50" wide. I assume you mean ATV trails.

Solid axle has always been the best for crawling.

Yep, guess I meant ATV trails. It would be more work in my opinion to chop, Bob and existing vehicle than to bend up tube. I think I could get a much lower center of gravity tucking links up in a tube frame. Agreed on solid axles.
