Hi Guys,
My name is Ronaldo and I've been in Boulder for about 3 months. My wife and I moved here after living abroad for the last 5 years. It feels great to be back in the States! I've been wanting to get into off-roading for a very long time and now that I live in Colorado I thought it would be the perfect time to try it out.
So, over the last 3 months I've been going back and forth between a LC 100 series, 4Runner trail and a Jeep Wrangler. I tested a bunch of vehicles out but ultimately wanted a manual to drive. One day while searching autotrader I came upon a Nissan Xterra pro 4x with low miles and most importantly a manual transmission. I test drove it and immediately made an offer and bought it. I really love the VQ series engine and the tidy dimensions the vehicle offered.
Im from Chicago so the most I've been off road is jumping a median to make a u-turn. Last night my wife told me she wanted to visit the Garden of the Gods. So I immediately went on line and found out I could take a couple off road trails there. We drove to Monument and got on the mount Herman road. We took a left at an intersection and took Rampart Range road to Woodlawn park and then on to the GOTGs. On the way home we took Rampart Range Road all the way to 67 and then home. It wasn't a hard trail but the views were awesome and my wife and 3 yo had a blast. So I guess I popped my off road cherry today. It felt great learning how the Xterra handled terrain other than street roads.
Well, sorry for the long intro and I hope to maybe meet up with some of you in the future. I think I may explore the Switzerland trail next since it is close to home.
Cheers!
