I just did a search for Ouray only to find we were there at the same time last year. Yesterday all trails were open so I hope that continues through next week when we'll be there. This year we're looking for new trails rather than the usual Black Bear, Imogene, Engineer, Alpine Loop, etc so if anyone knows any different ones I'd like to hear about them. It looks like we've done just about everything there but who knows...

This trip may be a mistake but after a long season on the sidelines with my #*^~_ -up back I decided to get in some trail times in the San Juans which is my favorite area in the state. Hoping things go well and I make it back intact but, what the hell, if things go bad Barb can get a lot of time behind the wheel.

If anybody happens to be there next week we'll be in the KOA.

I'm a bit envious...
Poughkeepsie Gulch is one of my favorites in that area.

Porphyry Gulch / Bullion King Mine looks like a really scenic area to explore, right off 550 north of Silverton.

I was going to mention Poughkeepsie. Reminded me of this video for anyone who hasn't seen it. I'm never sure whether to laugh or cry when I watch it.

He did have that longer wheelbase for stability.

I'm smart enough not to try Poughkeepsie with this truck when we're running solo. I did it in my old truck just fine with the help of the winch. We were there a couple days ago just to see if anyone was there but nobody was so we took the bypass. Yesterday was rain all day so I think we'll enjoy scenic stuff today while the high passes dry a bit.
