Can I run a vehicle through emissions with the ABS and Brake light on? I searched the air care colorado page and didn't see anything about it but the last thing I want to do is pay the $25 and fail the test because of those lights. Thank you.

I think the only light you need to be concerned with is the check engine light needs to be functional and can not be lite. But I would call them to be sure.

They won't fail for that but they may decline to test if they think the brakes are not working. I'd try to fix the brake problem or at least pull the fuse for the ABS so the light goes off.

I have heard stories of refusing to test a vehicle that leaks any fluids. If they felt there was any safety/liability issue, they would not put it on the rollers.
One thing to keep in mind is that OBDI systems were not required until 1991. The '87 to '90 XJs are not OBDI compliant. You will have to remind the techs about every other test cycle when they fail the Jeep for the non-existent light.

It really depends on the station and person doing the test. Some of them are jack-asses and won't test it if they see anything they can justify as a safety concern. Other people/stations will test anything that drives and stops. Good news is they can't charge you the $25 if they don't test it! It is just a waste of your time.

Thanks guy's. I called them and they said they would not test it if the brake light is on. Lame, the whole thing is a crock, but anyways, I'm planning to fix the brakes just didn't want to waste money or time with those hacks.
This is for my new to me, 2001 Suburban 2500. The Jeep has no issues passing since the kids that work there think it's cool. Funny how that works. :lmao:

Bummer...
At least you called ahead of time.

Put some electrical tape over the light. They won't be able to see that it is on! If you don't mention it, they may never know.

LOL, the thought has crossed my mind. It's an intermittent issue that from my research is common with these models and I'm going to start checking grounds tomorrow. I drove it tonight and they never turned on but with my luck I'll get there and the lights will turn on.

Pull the fuse.
No tape.
