While the Yankee Hill trip was tempting...had great day climbing up Vasquez peak near Berthoud Pass. Perfect weather, nice climb and decent skiing.
Myself with the southern end of the Indian Peaks behind me...Parry and ames Pk are perfectly blocked behind my skis.

Here is Jen....Peaks behind her are Engleman on the left and Mt Parnassus to the right.

And my father who is 80 years old and still "givin-it-hell". The peaks in the background are the northern Indian Peaks up by RMNP - Longs is visible although not very distinct.

Was only about 1100' ft climb and a 1400' decent (thumbed a ride back up the pass from a switchback). All in all, a pretty easy day - we were back home for a late lunch. For all of you waiting for the snow to melt...well we are hoping for lots more snow!

Thought I'd add a couple more from this weekend's trips. Sat was up 'Dry Gulch' near the Eisenhower Tunnel. We were headed to the top of an un-named high point (12,800'). We fell 400' short of topping out due to the rapidly rising temperature and concern about the snow quality and safety deteriorating quickly. The skiing was fantastic even if not quite as much vertical as we had intended - but we still skied almost 1800' back down to the truck.

Here I am with Mt Snicktau (13,200') in the background (also some great skiing).

Also thought I'd throw in a some pics from sunday's river trip on the Pumphouse section of the Colorado River. This was the maiden voyage (and shakedown trip) for my wife and I's new oar rig set-up. The rubber is used but in good shape (bought from a guiding outfit in Jackson, WY) and we worked with a local Denver company (Down River Equipment) to help get an aluminum frame and dry box set-up. If I knew how to TIG weld I would have loved to try making it myself. The run was 11 miles long with a couple sections of easy class III, but mostly its mild waves good for fishing. Great start to the summer season and with a couple minor adjustments the rig will be good to for multi-day summer trip to the MF of the Salmon in Idaho.
