Want to apologize for stepping away for a bit. Had some family things to tend to which looks to be finally winding down. We've had a little news here and there, not sure if I mentioned before, but we moved AGAIN last November, this time to the Springs. We've been exploring what the area has to offer whenever possible.

We've added a 3rd explorer to our stable now, but this one is BIG. It's a 92 4dr, 8-9" of lift and 35's. It has taken a while but I'm starting to wheel it like it's ON 35's!! I've been running my 96 so long on 31's that my eyes automatically tell the rest of me how to attack the trail which had to of looked pretty rediculous for while.

My 96 and Leila's 94 sport have been down for a while. Hers with the all too common 1st Gen explorer TTB front end issues, and my 96 with......well, you name it. Those 2 got wheeled hard and often all last year, especially while we were in Georgwtown.

That's about it. I'll be starting a thread soon to get planning our adopt a trail cleanup run soon. Our trails open June 15th!!

I say you go find a 74 and newer bronco or f-150 take the front end with every thing springs arms every thing they dam near bolt in man.

I know funds.....You should see the parts pile I have at the shop, the jeep wanted a lot of stuff the front end needs ball joints, the gears are finaly going to go in.....brakes are getting a slight up grade and rebuilt.
so should be a good running rig for the anaversery run.

We haven't done much to it yet. I of coarse had to change all interior and instrument lights to blue LED, repacked and adjusted front wheel bearings, moved the axle beams down to the bottom hole in the axle pivot drop brackets to cure camber and ride height issues, replaced back up lights with brighter LED's (helped, but need to add a couple LED cube lights or something for backing up on trail at night, we're out a lot after dark) and added a hand throttle to the shifter. It needs a lot in the front end, steering, ball joints, bearings etc. and It desperately needs regeared as its running the stock 3.73's on these 35's, and as you can see by the pics of my 96, it needs more lights all around :D. Needs lots of little throughout but the major parts of it are solid.
So far we've just been playing around on the trails off old stage here in the Springs, although we did rampart in its enirety to run some errands in denver, and then hit rainbow falls on the way back through, stayed the night there, and then hit all 3 gulches with friends the next day. Even ran into TJ on his four wheeler in that area!! Was great to see him.

It's been ok, I grew up in Longmont so everyone I KNOW know lives up around there. Have met a few wheelers down here though.

Agreed!! Although I've met some Explorer guys down here, I haven't been out with any of them. Met one of them doing a recovery on his 2nd Gen he took through a mud hole he shouldn't have and hydrolocked the motor. Getting that down off the trail was fun let me tell you......let's just say I had to drive it, with no pwr steering, no pwr brakes, no heat, at night, with no headlights, and the owner of it hanging out the passenger window with a flashlight to light the trail in front of me. Coasted it almost all the way down, had to get a couple tugs to the top of little rises so we could continue to coast.......good times!!
Let me know whenever your planning anything and I'll do my best to be there!!

Thank god you were there!! Sounds like we were being led to a pretty gnarly area!! Rest of the day went fine save for one spot towards the end of Hackett we got a little tippy. Overall I was happy with how the new truck did, although I did drop the front beams to the bottom hole in the brackets after that, didn't help steering at all, but front is a little lower, no more positive camber, and doesn't feel as stiff for some reason now? Ran a bit of eagle rock last week and other than being geared too high it felt better I think.
