My check engine light came on this morning and I used the key method to get code p0457, loose gas cap. Turned out to be a loose gas cap!!!!! :woot:

So just incase anyone with a Jeep doesn't know it, if your check engine light comes on you can read your codes by:

Turn key to ON without starting engine.

Press key in and hold, go quickly 3x from ON to ACC back to ON etc..., finish at ON

Your codes will display on the odometer followed by DONE.

Had the same code pop up on my Wrangler about 6 months ago. Went through the normal troubleshooting. Tightened and loosened and tightened the gas cap, cleared the code. It would pop up within 30-40 miles. Pulled the seal off the cap, inspected it, ended up replacing it, cleared the code. 30-40 miles later same code. Ended up replacing the entire cap. Guess what, 30-40 miles later code came back. I finally crawled underneath and what did I find a cracked natural vacuum leak detection hose, replace it cleared the code and it hasn't been back since.

I read a bunch of bad stories online about how this code is usually something other than the cap. I am so far lucky... and glad I checked it first. I watched this video, apparently he took the whole thing apart before figuring out that it was the cap:
