Don't want to overload the travel photos on a 4x4 forum, but a few requested some of my travel photos:

So I had the opportunity to travel quite a bit this summer:

Made it to Alaska for friend/family wedding which was done outdoor at a campground sorta near Anchorage. Highlight was doing grizzly watch shifts through the 24hr daylight night while the pig smoked.
Classic AK glaciers - had to do the Prince William Sound boat tour:

Wedding guests making smoke chips for the pig (that is me kneeling, doing my part) - I believe it was a type of alder:

The wedding was nice, but the pig....

Made it to Scotland - mostly Edinburgh but a bit of time in St Andrews (golf history) as well Glasgow.
The Swilican bridge on the the Old Course

Was mostly in the UK to hike most of the Hadrian's Wall trail. Nothing like going to England to learn a lot about the Roman Empire. The trail is about 84 miles long in total - we only hiked about 55 miles or so.

Finally, ended up back in Idaho for another river wilderness trip. Went 100 miles over 7 days on the middle fork of the Salmon. As a big whitewater paddler, its always awesome to leave the drying up rivers of CO and go to Idaho where the water flows like wine all summer and fall!
Myself on the oars:

My wife and I on a side hike one afternoon - about 1300' above the river here.

Coming out of a nice rapid (friends boat):

Very cool trips!
We just got back from the San juans. There is plenty of water flowing in CO. Still a lot of snow to be found.

Oh I'd love to do a Middle fork run someday. I don't know much about that run. I've done a lot of Colorado rafting, Westwater, and the grand. That would be a blast for sure. Sold my 16' cat after the Grand trip we did Oct 2015.

MF is 100 miles to and ends just after the confluence with the main salmon. We took 6 nights on river, not including the night before launch. Its interesting as it goes from technical class 3 (4 at high water) mountain river with steep, conifer covered flanks to a sparsely vegetated desert setting with high volume less technical rapids - although not red sandstone layers like westwater or the grand. Just got a permit for Ruby-Horsethief in a couple weeks out by Grand Junction. Idaho is absolutely the best place to go for river trips - within a couple hours of Boise there are 3 major permitted wilderness trips of near 100 miles, not to mention 2 more non-permitted sections along the main salmon great for anything from day trips to 60-70 mile multi-day. Of course, the grand canyon is still the best of the best!

I did ski in June (I think it was June 1st) near Loveland pass - no pics but my last day of the season. Considering a trip to Chile next summer for some July and Aug skiing! I was there in 2002 when I was in grad school.

Sad that work (and the money it provides) gets in the way of so much fun! Would be perfect to play all day and get paid for it.

The grand was epic. I'm proud to say my buddy James and I had no flips or swims from my raft. I cannot say that about the other guys. Day 2 through the roaring 20s saw 4 swimmers. From that point on the message was "stay in the f&^cking boat" LOL
