Impressive.

Their new cameraman / editor perhaps is a reason for the production quality??

Nice use of drones.

How'd they not get lost in the mine - if they were able to drive around the maze for an hour and not cross the same road??

I rewatched this and I do think the extra editing skills are a huge part of it, the shots are fantastic and it looks great. They dumped a bunch of money into it and it shows. However the big production parts are the beginning and the end, and they're OK, but the really good stuff in the middle is all just basic hand held cameras with good editing. I think this season is better so far because they are actually doing stuff that is interesting, like the railroad bridges and the mines. All the editing tricks and the people are incidental to just pointing the camera at something interesting that people want to watch. So far so good!

they have 130,000 youtube followers and all the over the top expensive gear in the world. Ronny Dahl has more with really basic gear. Casey Neistat has over 8 million and this thread reminded me of his video about camera gear:
